Introduction to Susan Batson’s Method
with Arantxa de Juan
The classes are the gateway to Susan Batson’s method (coach to Nicole Kidman, Juliette Binoche, Tom Cruise, among others).
It is the responsibility of each actor/actress to keep their instrument in shape, developing intelligence, imagination, and physical fitness to empathize with characters with complete creative freedom.
Nourish the characters with the essence of each actor/actress, with their energy, their impulses, their vulnerability. Through contact with oneself and emotional and sensory preparation, the texts emerge organically in each take.
The characters/people will thus be filled with TRUTH, the key to Susan Batson’s method. The actor channels the character’s emotions and puts them at the service of a story. But they must
trust their own vision. Only then will they be true creators. It is an exercise for the actor to face the casting process with truth, depth, and freshness.
