Butoh dance
with Marlene Jöbstl
Each one has their own butō, their own beauty, their own truth.
舞 BU to dance with the wind
踏 TŌ the foot that grasps the earth to walk..
BUTŌ recalls the fundamentals of life, a body standing between earth and sky.
The workshops approach the performing arts through butoh dance. It is serious, profound, highly personal, and spatial work. Participants practice how to access and be true to themselves, and to shine by being authentic and free with space. The aim is not exclusively to train butoh artists, but rather to use butoh as a basis for serving one’s own being in order to enable personal creative freedom.
Butō is radical, it goes to the roots of things, of bodies, of souls. Dancing at the root of the soul. Here we come to learn to unlearn. We come to dance arguments from our own free roots.
